THE ELDERLY
Participants must submit their application by Tuesday, October 7th, 2025 for the chance to be selected and exhibit their work within the 21st edition of Paratissima, one of the most important Italian events dedicated to emerging contemporary art, taking place from October 29th to November 2nd, 2025.
A total of 10 works will be selected and will become part of a special collective exhibition hosted within the spaces of Paratissima. These works will also be featured in a special event during the festival, where they will be auctioned to support the Tredicesime dell’Amicizia project.
The cosmos is the entire universe, conceived as an ordered and harmonious whole.
The Universe is the totality of all that exists: a complex system of celestial bodies — planets, stars, galaxies, gas, and dust — together with dark matter and dark energy. Its structure is profoundly hierarchical: individual stars and binary systems cluster into open and globular groups, forming galaxies; these galaxies then organize into groups and clusters, which in turn form vast superclusters. It is a network of relationships held together by invisible forces, a dynamic balance that allows for the coexistence and continuous interaction of its components.
Fondazione La Stampa – Specchio dei tempi ETS, since 1955, has acted according to the value of solidarity: supporting people in need, populations struck by disasters, children, the sick, struggling families, mothers, and lonely elderly people.
Solidarity n. [from the French solidarité]. The condition of being united with others, of sharing ideas, purposes, and responsibilities. In a broader ethical and social sense, it is the bond of brotherhood and mutual support that connects individuals within a community, rooted in their shared sense of belonging and the awareness of common interests and goals.
Individuals coming together in groups, groups merging into larger communities, eventually forming complex social networks. As in the universe, each level of this structure is not isolated but interconnected, and the integrity of the whole system depends on the care and mutual support among its parts.
This exhibition seeks to explore the parallelism between micro and macrocosm, inviting reflection on the value of care and mutual support — essential elements for coexistence and prosperity, both in the universe and in our societies. Through works that engage with spatiality, materiality, and relationships, the project envisions art as a tool for connection, a field in which practices of responsibility and belonging are tested, opening new horizons of ethics and community.
